Guest Wines
The guest “red eye” ~ $8. to taste both
Every week we like to pour two Pinot Noirs side-by-side to highlight their differences & hopefully evoke interesting conversation.
Lemelson Vineyards is one of those producers that you can reliably count on year after year for extremely high quality wines that exude elegance and a great value for what’s in the bottle. Thea’s selection is an ode to owner/vintner Eric Lemelson’s mother who was very supportive of his dream to own a winery. This is a Pinot Noir that shows off the more feminine and pretty side of this noble grape, traits that really speak to what makes Oregon so unique.
Eric is on the forefront of organic grape farming here in Oregon. He feels strongly that sustainable practices in the vineyard are one of the most important building blocks for world-class wine. Thea’s Selection is a combination of a wide array of clones from six different vineyard sites from multiple soil types, giving the wine a tremendous amount of complexity and depth.
Le Cadeau has been a staple on our shelves since we first discovered them with their debut vintage, 2002. A unique vineyard site high in the Parrot Mountain range just north of us, they focus on showing off the different attributes that each develops.
They also do something else that is quite cutting edge and that further distinguishes their different bottlings. They have three different winemakers work with a different vineyard block! The Équinox is made by Jim Sanders, while the other two are made by Cheryl & Sam Tannahill (Rex Hill, A to Z Wineworks, Francis Tannahill Wines) , and one is made by Harry Petterson-Nedry of Chehalem fame. What stood out with Équinox is the amazing texture, deep & dark fruit and layers of exotic spice that linger on and on. Just 400 cases made, grab it while you can!
